Understanding genetic heterogeneity in gene-edited hematopoietic stem cell products

The advent of gene editing has ushered in significant advances in biomedical research due to the ability to precisely manipulate genomes in live cells, with potential clinical applications emerging continually. Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) have been among the first primary cell types to undergo gene editing and for good reason. Their position at the top of the hematopoietic hierarchy, extensive phenotypic characterization, and the established practice of stem cell transplantation in the lab and in the clinic makes them ideal targets for genetic interventions.
