Recent monthly mortality for pulmonary embolism in the US

Seasonal variations in the incidence of pulmonary embolism (PE) have been described in recent decades. Stein et al. originally published the results of a search of the databases of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the National Center for Health Statistics to determine the number of annual deaths for PE in the US between the years 1980 –1998 [1], and concluded that PE mortality did not show significant variation with seasons.
