Intracardiac shunt assessment using CT coronary angiography

This study compares a novel method of detecting and quantifying intracardiac shunts from the test bolus sequence of a Cardiac CT protocol, in comparison with the current non-invasive gold standard of CMR. This CT data is frequently obtained, but rarely interrogated for diagnostic purposes. The authors present a method of interrogation of this CT test bolus data to obtain an estimate of the Qp/Qs, which mirrors previous methods used with indicator dye curves. The authors report strong agreement between test bolus method, and contemporaneous CMR.
