44-Year-Old Woman With Cough and Shortness of Breath

A 44-year-old woman with a body mass index (BMI) of 36 kg/m2, hypertension, depression, and previous gastric banding presented to the emergency department for persistent dry cough, dyspnea, and myalgias. A recent evaluation at her local emergency department confirmed COVID-19 pneumonia by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and chest imaging (chest x-ray [CXR], computed tomography [CT] angiography) without coexisting pulmonary embolism (PE). Following 2 visits to the emergency department, she was treated conservatively.
