Regulatory T cells in gastric cancer: key controllers from pathogenesis to therapy
Gastric cancer (GC) is a highly aggressive malignant disease responsible for over 700,000 deaths worldwide annually [1]. In 2020 alone, there were approximately 1.1 million new cases of GC, making it the fifth most common malignancy and the fourth leading cause of cancer-related death globally [2]. Asian countries, including Japan, Mongolia, and the Republic of Korea, exhibit a significantly higher incidence and prevalence of GC compared to Western countries [3]. Early-stage GC is often asymptomatic, necessitating screening upper gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy with biopsy as the primary method for reliable diagnosis.
