The Healthcare Price Transparency Illusion: Does anyone know what laboratory tests cost?
In an important analysis of the usefulness and total estimated cost of a screening panel of laboratory tests for patients newly diagnosed with celiac disease, Farmer et al proposed in their recently published article a truncated protocol to alleviate the costs for patients.1 Inadvertently, the authors demonstrate a problem with hospital price transparency in the United States.
