Angiographic Findings in Patients With De Novo Heart Failure With Reduced Ejection Fraction (HFrEF) Referred for Early Inpatient Coronary Angiography During Their Index Admission

Ischaemic heart disease is the most common cause of HFrEF and portends a worse prognosis. Heart failure guidelines worldwide recommend coronary evaluation in new diagnoses of HFrEF; however, there is a scarcity of data guiding the optimal mode of coronary evaluation. The timing of coronary angiography and the benefit of subsequent coronary revascularisation in these patients, especially in the absence of angina, is contentious. Whether early inpatient angiography justifies the required resources and associated periprocedural risks needs to be evaluated.
