Examining the Landscape of Surrogate Outcomes in Clinical Trials of Heart Failure With Preserved Ejection Fraction (HFpEF) Patients: A Narrative Review

Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) accounts for>50% of heart failure and has few proven therapies. Clinical outcome trials are the gold standard to evaluate new therapies in heart failure. These are often large, long, labour-intensive, and expensive. There is a need to identify robust surrogate outcomes that correlate with clinical outcomes in HFpEF.
