Study Finds High Rates of Sugar, Salt in Rural Children's Diets

A study of rural Pennsylvania children found that the diets of children under 2 are higher in salt and sugar than recommended by current U.S. dietary guidelines. Early food exposure establishes taste preferences and long term eating habits. Diets exceeding the recommended sugar and salt intake amounts may lead to an increase in a variety of chronic health conditions.
