Reduction in urinary tract infections in patients treated with fecal microbiota transplantation for recurrent Clostridioides difficile infection

AbstractWe performed an updated study to investigate the rates of urinary tract infections (UTIs) in patients with recurrentClostridioides difficile infection (CDI) who received fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) for CDI. We found a significant reduction in number of UTIs after FMT compared to patients who received antibiotics for CDI treatment. After FMT, we also observed a trend towards reduction of antibiotic resistance in organisms causing UTI.
