Validation d’une version canadienne-française de l’Échelle de Stress parental auprès de Parents québécois.

Canadian Journal of Behavioural Science / Revue canadienne des sciences du comportement, Vol 55(2), Apr 2023, 161-168; doi:10.1037/cbs0000356The purpose of this study was to validate the French-Canadian version of the Parental Stress Scale with a first sample of 473 parents and to confirm its factorial structure with a second sample of 378 parents from the Quebec community with an infant. Participants were asked to complete a questionnaire translated from English to French using the back translation method, as well as other measures generally associated with parental stress. Results show good internal consistency and a two-factor structure characterized by parental stressors and benefits. Convergent validity analyses show associations between parental stress and psychological distress, postpartum depression, and parental self-efficacy. The French-Canadian version of the PSS has good psychometric qualities and favors a more widespread use in the French-speaking community to measure parental stress.
