Genetic variants in the promoters of let-7 are associated with the risk and age at onset of ischemic stroke: A case control study

Stroke is China's main cause of mortality and years of life lost. With the aging population and increasing urbanization, stroke incidence has risen in China.1 Ischemic stroke (IS) is a multifactorial and multigenic disease that develops when blood supply to a specific part of the brain is disrupted or diminished, generally due to a thrombus. Although there are advancements in recanalization therapy, treatment options for stroke are still limited.2 Identifying genetic variants related to the onset risk of IS could contribute to understanding its pathogenesis and further developing innovative strategies for managing and preventing this complicated disease.
