Vascular Surgery In Low- And Middle- Income Countries: A State-of-the-art Review
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) represents 32% of all global deaths. Estimates project an increase in CVD mortality with the most substantial increase in low- and middle- income countries (LMICs). Within LMICs, we sought to 1) measure the burden of CVD with respect to aortic aneurysm (AA), ischemic stroke (IS), and peripheral artery disease (PAD); 2) quantify surgical access to vascular surgery services.
