A Recap on Basics

Skin functions as our largest organ system and provides many functions serving as a protective self-replenishing barrier/envelope with specialized sensory, excretory, and thermoregulatory qualities. Although there are related immunologic and metabolic functions, our mission in this issue focuses on pathologic condition that we encounter in the Rehabilitation patient, the potential pitfalls, and strategies and addresses these as a team. Our field inherently works with individuals who are limited from a wide array of conditions that disrupt one ’s existential homeostasis, affecting mobility and metabolic/nutritional and neurovascular systems in a wide range of ages and medical conditions.
