Pre-Studying before Med School STEP 1 COMLEX
Any advice on prep for these exams before I start med school? I have about 6 months off before I start school and think I would benefit from some light studying. FYI I have a two year Masters in Physiology so starting with some sort of base. I have already taken a year of 500 level phys (read multiple phys textbooks cover to cover), immunology, virology, several 500 level bioch. No exposure to pharma yet. Any advice would be much appreciated. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Early Decision Program at Penn?
Does anyone have information or experience with the early decision program at Penn? I'm considering applying there as an MSTP candidate (which is supposedly allowed according to their MSTP website...), and meet the admissions criteria for the program (minimum 518 / 3.83). Penn would be my first choice regardless, and I have a reasonably compelling argument to attend. First, the school is a leader in my research interests (gene therapy and virology). Second, my long-term girlfriend goes to... Early Decision Program at Penn? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Residencies ideas for someone that really likes physiology??
Hi everyone. Idk I know physiology is clearly integrated into every aspect of medicine and there is no field that doesn't utilize physiology, but I am really intrigued by physiology, you know topics like immunology, pathology, virology..... I mean I thought about academia but not really as a full time position, maybe later but any ideas on residencies? Thanks. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Developmental Biology versus Virology
I am in need of taking one more upper level course this spring. I am currently registered for Biochemistry, and I was wondering if one of these classes is better than the other. Thanks (Source: Student Doctor Network)

course vs research
Hey everyone! Currently I'm trying to decide between taking comprehensive virology (3 cred) and another bio elective ( 3 cred) (bio of the eye/ cancer bio---) vs taking 4 credits of research (2 each sem or 1 each sem or even 4 at once), which would eventually satisfy my bio requirement. However, the professor I might do research with requests 9 hours for every 1 credit I apply!!! Hence I was wondering if I should take the courses and just volunteer with research and hence maybe do 5-6 hours... course vs research (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Question about "general biology" prequisite
Hello all, So I have spent several hours trying to research this further, but I still have not found a clear answer. I didn't even think about it being an issue before, considering I was a microbiology major. I figured that completing tons of upper level biology coursework would fulfill the biology prerequisite, but I am seeing mixed messages. I have taken classes like microbiology w/ lab, immunology w/ lab, microbial genetics w/lab, virology w/lab, etc. Do I still need to go back and take... Am I applying too top-heavy? (also WAMC)
Hey everybody, Right off the bat, yes I read the very similar posts just below mine. I feel like my situation is a little different because I do have the research breadth one person was told to get and don't have the whole gap year conundrum the other one had. I am applying MD/PhD hopefully to matriculate in Fall 2017. My cGPA is 3.96 with a 4.0 science GPA, got a 524 MCAT, and my research experience is as follows: 1. 1 year doing genomics/virology 2. A summer leading an epidemiology... Am I applying too top-heavy? (also WAMC) (Source: Student Doctor Network)
