Physician's and Cardiovascular Disease
Chronic stress is linked to increase in heart attacks, strokes, as well as cardiovascular disease. Research supports high stressful occupations as well as lifestyle factors contribute to its pathogenesis. Considering medicine is a very stressful, exhausting, and demanding field, has there been any research on Physician's health? Anyone aware if Physician's suffer from cardiovascular issues more than the general public? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Concerns about fellowship
Congratulations to everyone who matched today! I have some concerns that I know will appear foolish to most, but I'm hoping for some advice to help me sift through everything going through my head right now. I'm just applied and matched into a GI fellowship program. Within the past 3 weeks (since I submitted my ROL), my S.O interviewed for and accepted a fellowship position for stroke at an amazing program. The program I matched at is a good, mid tier program, but is very far away, and... Concerns about fellowship (Source: Student Doctor Network)

beta blockers and stroke volume
kind of confused about this point -- there is a usmle-rx question that says that metoprolol reduces contractility but does not reduce stroke volume - rather, it decreases heart rate and allows more diastolic filling time to increase SV. however, in FA (p.273) it says that stroke volume is affected by contractility (??) so i'm a tad confused since the logic can seem to go either way. why doesn't a decrease in contractility directly decrease SV? Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Neuropsychology Internship Application CV Question
Hi, I am in the process of organizing my CV and was wondering how specific to be when describing my neuropsych training experiences. For example, I have " outpatient neuropsychological assessment of adult and geriatric clients with medical and neurological difficulties." Should I be more specific and list the types of conditions that I primarily see in parentheses (i.e., dementia, traumatic brain injury, stroke) ? Or should I mention these conditions in the cover letter? I want to ensure... Neuropsychology Internship Application CV Question (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Neuropsychology diagnoses?
What exactly can neuropsychologists diagnose? Can they diagnose various neurological diseases/ disorders like dementia, parkinsons, stroke, TBI, etc? Or do they only diagnose the functional deficits of these conditions, like memory loss, impaired speech, etc? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Very bad GPA. Great MCAT. Where do I apply?
2.0 undergrad GPA. Didn't really care about school. Took me 3 extra years to finish undergrad (when most people get their MDs in that time), because I didn't care. Put on academic probation twice. Failed at least 8 or 9 classes. Graduated (finally) about 2 years ago with a degree in biology. Currently working in industry doing research in neuroscience. About 7 months back my dad had a stroke. I guess that gave me the motivation and perspective I needed for my lazy fat ass. Busted my ass... Very bad GPA. Great MCAT. Where do I apply? (Source: Student Doctor Network)
