Epilepsy, Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowships
I'm training in child neurology with interest in treating epilepsy in children and young adults (but open to any adult) in a non-academic job. 1) What exactly is the difference between epilepsy, clinical neurophysiology with EEG or epilepsy focus, and other such (adult + pediatric vs pediatric epilepsy, etc) fellowships? 2) What is the utility of this fellowship for private practice or non-academic, particularly if child neurology trained? i.e. job opportunities to read EEG remotely 3) Can... Child neurology residency lifestyle
Can anyone comment on what lifestyle is like during child neuro residency, one person says much more difficult than the five years of child psychiatry or the three years of a general peds, but I would love to hear thoughts and experiences. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What is DO Leadership Thinking for 2020?
Not rhetorical, honest question. The only place I've heard impending doom of COM expansion and GME stagnation is SDN (though anyone who does the numbers can see the writing on the wall). I can understand how leadership sees DO expansion as a way to get the share of the market, but they're hedging their bets on 1. PD's will favor DOs over IMG and 2. Lower level, cheaper labor (NP's, PA's) not filling the gap, thus pressure to expand GME funding. So are they ignorant, willfully blind, or... What is DO Leadership Thinking for 2020? What is your school's start to finish success rate?
Like caribbean schools, the numbers need to be made available on the actual success rate of each class, meaning full attrition of how many of the students that start on day one make it to graduation with a secured residency spot. I know my school has had drop outs, held back a year, and kicked students out, much higher attrition than I could imagine as a premed, but these obviously do not show up match or even "placement" statistics. Part of the schools answer to the merger has been to... What is your school's start to finish success rate? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Best Veterinary book for (Human) Physicians
I have a personal interest in zoology, evolution, and practical uses of veterinary medicine (particularly what would be helpful for a rural physician to know about animals, or an outdoor enthusiast to know). Any good book/text recommendations?? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

When did Doctors become helpless against BC and GME?
I know of doctors that have only done a transitional year that see patients cash only, and obviously that was much more common in the past. I believe even into the 80s (could be wrong on this) any doc could do EM, now you basically have no chance if you're not board certified in EM. If you don't pay massive sums to become BC and continually pay to be re-certified it has a serious effect on your employment opportunities. There's also the dynamic of unsubsidized loans ballooning while you... When did Doctors become helpless against BC and GME? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

COMs Establishing New Residency Programs
Alot of big talk from the newer schools, but are there actually any new (not currently established) residency programs actually set in motion to open 2017 and onward? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Preparing for COMLEX throughout OMS2
I am looking to take ONLY COMLEX due to wanting to go into primary care (I'm also from one of the "top" DO state schools and would like to practice in the state, and don't want to pay for two massive exams) but obviously want to get the best score possible, my main question is what should I be doing throughout my systems blocks? I'm about 14 months away from taking it, in systems right now, and have been using pathoma, referencing FA (but barely), and am going to start Kaplan videos/qbank... OMM knowledge needed for COMLEX
For those of us that detest large aspects of OMM, how well do you need to know the concepts for COMLEX 1 through PE? It's difficult to devote study time when there's more interesting material in medicine, so I've been doing the bare minimum (really bare) but have begun to worry that this will hurt my COMLEX score and possibly other examinations needed to graduate that I haven't considered. Any Advice? I have the savarese book, how well did you know it for those that scored well on boards?... OMM knowledge needed for COMLEX (Source: Student Doctor Network)

18 years old possible CF.
Hi, I have had sinus issues and stomach pain for a long time now and have also coughed up sputum a lot. Recently, I have been having pneumonia due to Staphylococcus Aureus (7 times now.) and hospitalized twice. My pulmonologist send me for a sweat test and it came back as likely having CF. In my most recent hospital stay, I also had a bronchoscopy which came back containing Aspergillus Fumigatus, Candida Albicans, and Staphylococcus Aureus and the doctor mentioned my lungs kinda resembled someone with CF and in my first stay I had been diagnosed with bronchiectasis. Anyone ever have a similar situation? (Source: Cystic F...
