E-135 Dejerine-roussy syndrome in the setting of right sigmoid sinus thrombosis: a unique case report
DiscussionThis case illustrates the important clinical aspects and physical findings needed to diagnose DRS. The presence of focal allodynia and hyperalgesia with recent cerebrovascular incidents provides significant evidence for DRS. The purpose of this case is to provide awareness and to increase clinical suspicion of DRS during examination, especially in the setting of cerebral venous sinus occlusion as infarction alone may not present as atypical allodynia.Disclosures S. Does occupational therapy improve activities of daily living and/or cognitive abilities in stroke patients with cognitive impairment? A Cochrane Review summary with commentary
CONCLUSION:The authors concluded that the body of evidence for the effectiveness of OT interventions has improved since their first review. However, although their findings provide some support for the potential benefits of OT (mostly based on low certainty evidence), OT effectiveness for stroke patients remains unclear.PMID:37424486 | DOI:10.3233/NRE-236002

Stakeholders' Experiences Using Videoconferencing for a Group-Based Stroke Intervention During COVID-19: A Thematic Analysis
CONCLUSIONS AND RELEVANCE: Tailored training protocols may support stakeholders who are participating in telerehabilitation interventions using new software or devices. Future studies that identify specific tailoring variables will advance the development of telerehabilitation training protocols. What This Article Adds: These findings provide stakeholder-identified barriers and facilitators, in addition to stakeholder-informed recommendations, for technology training protocols that may support uptake of telerehabilitation in occupational therapy.PMID:37314955 | DOI:10.5014/ajot.2023.050111

Effect of Cathodal Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation for Lower Limb Subacute Stroke Rehabilitation
CONCLUSION: In the current pilot study, ctDCS plus CGR was an effective treatment modality to improve lower limb motor function with subacute stroke. The effectiveness of cathodal tDCS in poststroke lower limb motor dysfunction is inconclusive. Therefore, a large randomized controlled trial is needed to verify its effectiveness.PMID:37274448 | PMC:PMC10239296 | DOI:10.1155/2023/1863686

Convergent Validity for the Functional Upper Extremity Levels (FUEL) in Stroke Rehabilitation
CONCLUSIONS AND RELEVANCE: Convergent validity of the FUEL is established using the UE-FMA as a comparison. The FUEL can be applied in neurological rehabilitation to provide a clinical picture of a client's UE function. This research supports the value of the FUEL's application in clinical poststroke care. What This Article Adds: The FUEL is a valid tool to assess the UE in an acute neurological population.PMID:37272905 | DOI:10.5014/ajot.2023.050026
