Stroke patterns and outcomes during the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic: a cross-sectional study
CONCLUSION: The factors that cause the delayed transfer to the hospital and onset of treatment should be addressed. Patient counseling about the likely prognosis can be done after evaluating the probable outcome based on the NIHSS score and median duration of hospital stay. Nevertheless, mechanisms should be developed to reduce the prehospital delay at the ground level as well as at the policy level.PMID:37363610 | PMC:PMC10289718 | DOI:10.1097/MS9.0000000000000722

Percutaneous coronary intervention versus coronary artery bypass grafting among patients with left ventricular systolic dysfunction: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: The results of this meta-analysis suggest that CABG is superior to PCI for patients with LVSD. CABG was associated with a lower risk of all-cause mortality, repeat revascularization, and incidence of myocardial infarction compared with PCI in patients with LVSD.PMID:37363575 | PMC:PMC10289746 | DOI:10.1097/MS9.0000000000000634

Predictive value of motor-evoked potentials for motor recovery in patients with hemiparesis secondary to acute ischemic stroke
CONCLUSIONS: Among patients with moderate-to-severe ischemic stroke, MEP + patients had better motor recoveries (approximately 70%) than MEP- patients at 90 days post-stroke. MEP + patients had better functional outcomes than MEP- patients.PMID:37345693 | DOI:10.1080/07853890.2023.2225144

The Combinations of the Patterns of Non-Adherence to Anti-Platelet Regimen in Stented Patients (PARIS) and Coronary Revascularization Demonstrating Outcome Study in Kyoto (CREDO-Kyoto) Thrombotic and Bleeding Risk Scores on Clinical Outcomes in Patients with Acute Myocardial Infarction
Conclusion The combinations of the PARIS and CREDO-Kyoto risk scores might be useful for evaluating ischemic and bleeding risks in patients with acute MI undergoing primary PCI.PMID:37344423 | DOI:10.2169/internalmedicine.2117-23

Migraine and risk of premature myocardial infarction and stroke among men and women: A Danish population-based cohort study
by Cecilia Hvitfeldt Fuglsang, Lars Pedersen, Morten Schmidt, Jan P. Vandenbroucke, Hans Erik B øtker, Henrik Toft Sørensen BackgroundMigraine carries risk of myocardial infarction (MI) and stroke. The risk of premature MI (i.e., among young adults) and stroke differs between men and women; previous studies indicate that migraine is mainly associated with an increased risk of stroke among young women. The aim of this study was to examine impact of migraine on the risk of premature (age ≤60 years) MI and ischemic/hemorrhagic stroke among men and women. Methods and findingsUsing Danish medical registries, we conducted a ...
