Management of a Special Warfare Trainee With Repeat Exertional Heat Stroke: A Case Study
CONCLUSIONS: In individuals with repeat EHS, a prolonged recovery period followed by heat tolerance testing can be used to demonstrate appropriate thermotolerance and safely clear an individual to begin stepwise reacclimatization. Overall, patient care and military readiness may be improved by unified Department of Defense guidelines for return to duty after EHS.PMID:37290772 | DOI:10.1123/jsr.2022-0324

Interaction of Kinematic, Kinetic, and Energetic Predictors of Young Swimmers' Speed
CONCLUSIONS: Coaches and practitioners should be aware that improvements in isolated variables may not translate into faster swimming speed. A multilevel evaluation may be required for a more effective assessment of the prediction of swimming speed based on several key variables rather than a single analysis.PMID:37268299 | DOI:10.1123/ijspp.2022-0430

Predictors of Ball Velocity in the Sitting Volleyball Serve: A Causal Analysis
This study explored the performance of the Sitting Volleyball serve by investigating the causal factors associated with ball velocity. Thirty-seven athletes underwent anthropometry and strength assessment and performed ten successful maximal effort serves. Ball velocity was measured using a sports radar gun. The hip, shoulder, elbow and wrist angles at the instant of ball impact as well as the height of ball impact were estimated through two-dimensional motion analysis. The causal relationships between variables were described through a linear Structural Equation Model and a Directed Acyc...

The cardiorespiratory optimal point as a discriminator of lesion severity in adults with congenital heart disease
CONCLUSIONS: As a submaximal variable, COP discriminated between moderate and severe lesions and may prove beneficial in a highly vulnerable population that is often unable to undergo exertional testing.PMID:37166254 | DOI:10.23736/S0022-4707.23.14835-3
