Treatment of In-stent Restenosis of the Internal Carotid Artery Using Drug-eluting Balloons
ConclusionThe use of DEB angioplasty is a  safe and effective treatment of ICA ISR lesions, yielding significantly better results compared to other modalities. Randomized multicenter studies are warranted.

First clinical experience with the Derivo 2heal embolization device for the treatment of intracranial aneurysms
CONCLUSIONS: The preliminary results of the new Derivo® 2heal® Embolization Device appear promising and warrant further evaluation by multicentre studies with long-term follow-up.PMID:37574801 | DOI:10.1177/15910199231193577

Stroke Thrombectomy through Interstices of a Hybrid Endograft Placed for Type A Aortic Dissection
A 53-year-old man presented with acute, severe, thoracic pain, absence of the femoral and left radial pulses, and asymmetric blood pressure —80/40 mm Hg in the left arm and 170/110 mm Hg in the right arm. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography revealed type A aortic dissection, starting from the aortic valve and extending into both iliac arteries (Fig 1). Emergent hemiarch replacement surgery was performed, with insertion of a hybrid a ortic stent with a proximal felt sewing cuff (Ascyrus Medical Dissection Stent, [AMDS]; Ascyrus Medical, Frankfurt, Germany) into the aortic arch with reimplantation of the brachiocephalic ...

Machine learning based outcome prediction of large vessel occlusion of the anterior circulation prior to thrombectomy in patients with wake-up stroke
CONCLUSION: Machine learning algorithms have the potential to aid in the decision making for thrombectomy in patients with wake-up stroke especially in hospitals, where emergency CTP or MRI imaging is not available.PMID:36344011 | DOI:10.1177/15910199221135695

Causes of Death in Endovascularly Treated Patients with Acute Stroke INTERVENTIONAL
CONCLUSIONS: Cerebrovascular causes in patients with stroke play a major role in the intrahospital causes of death and reasons for palliation. Considering the large proportion of secondarily palliative–treated patients, reasons for palliation should be considered instead of causes of death to avoid concealment by, for example, life-terminating measures.

Development of a Flow Phantom for Transcranial Doppler Ultrasound Quality Assurance
Anecdotal evidence was recently brought to our attention suggesting a potential difference in velocity estimates between transcranial Doppler (TCD) systems when measuring high velocities ( ∼200 cm/s) close to the threshold for sickle cell disease stroke prevention. As we were unable to identify a suitable commercial TCD phantom, a middle cerebral artery (MCA) flow phantom was developed to evaluate velocity estimates from different devices under controlled conditions. Time-averaged v elocity estimates were obtained using two TCD devices: a Spencer Technologies ST3 Doppler system (ST3 PMD150, Spencer Technologies, Seattle,...

Outcome of Stroke Patients with Unknown Onset and Unknown Time Last Known Well Undergoing Endovascular Therapy
ConclusionThe LKWu patients had a  similar outcome after ET as KO and LKWk patients after adjusting for confounders. Thus, ET should not be withheld if the time last known well is unknown. Instead, LKWu patients may be selected for ET using the same criteria as in LKWk patients.

Treatment of secondary mitral regurgitation by transcatheter edge-to-edge repair using MitraClip
AbstractTranscatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) is becoming the standard invasive treatment for ventricular functional mitral regurgitation (MR). It is necessary to determine the severity of MR before treatment with MitraClip; however, the severity of secondary MR is usually underestimated compared with that of primary MR and varies temporally. Therefore, to accurately determine the severity of MR, it is important to correctly use the algorithm of the guidelines for valvular heart disease and aggressively perform stress echocardiography. Before performing TEER, the difficulty of the procedure should be evaluated. First, m...
