Relation of post-stroke headachto cerebrovascular pathology and hemodynamics
In conclusion, post-stroke headache is a common phenomenon, especially in patients with pre-stroke headache, history of old stroke, posterior circulation infarction, and large artery disease. This headache was of moderate-intensity with clinical characteristics of tension-type. Intra-cranial cerebrovascular pathological changes including opening of collateral channels and variable degrees of stenosis of cerebrovascular systems were implicated in the production of that headache.PMID:35950474 | DOI:10.5114/fn.2022.116962

Exploration of screening practices for obstructive sleep apnea in stroke medical community: A pilot study
Conclusion Despite being an independent risk factor for stroke and TIA, majority of physicians in the pilot targeted cohort of medical professionals, who are involved in the management of stroke and TIA, do not screen these patients for SDB. Further work involving systematic, more detailed standardized surveys are needed to be developed to objectively evaluate and improve screening practices for SDB in national and international stroke medical communities.

miR-668 inhibitor attenuates mitochondrial membrane potential and protects against neuronal apoptosis in cerebral ischemic stroke.
In conclusion, the results of the present study indicated that inhibition of miR-668 prevented neuronal apoptosis in cerebral I/R-induced stroke by modulating mitochondrial function and regulating NLRP3 signalling. PMID: 32337954 [PubMed - in process]

Assessment of 25-hydroxy vitamin D in stroke patients based on severity and type: a cross-sectional study
This study showed that low 25(OH) vit D serum level is common in male but there was not any relation between serum level of 25(OH) vit D, type, and severity of stroke.

Peripheral brain-derived neurotrophic factor is reduced in stroke survivors with cognitive impairment
This study evaluated cognitive impairment in stroke survivors and examined its relationship with peripheral blood levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). It is hypothesized that serum BDNF levels significantly correlate with cognitive impairment. Cognition was assessed in 47 stroke survivors and 35 normal subjects using the Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE). Serum BDNF concentrations were determined using BDNF ELISA kits. Data were expressed as median (10th–90th percentiles) and analysed using non-parametric tests on SPSS statistics. The stroke survivors and controls were middle aged (in their fifties), wi...

Risk factors for ischemic stroke: differences between cerebral small vessel and large artery atherosclerosis aetiologies
Folia Neuropathol. 2021;59(4):378-385. doi: 10.5114/fn.2021.112007.ABSTRACTThe treatment for large artery atherosclerosis (LAA) stroke is also important for patients with cerebral small vessel disease (SVD). Our aim is to clarify the risk factors for ischemic cerebral SVD and to evaluate the different risk factor profiles of the two ischemic stroke subtypes, namely, ischemic cerebral SVD and LAA. A total of 353 patients with acute ischemic stroke were assigned to two groups according to the Trial of ORG 10172 in Acute Stroke Treatment (TOAST) criteria: the ischemic cerebral SVD group and the LAA group. A total of 70 non-st...
