Finding the everyday miracles in life
Last week I was writing about what it takes for a miracle to happen and one of my commentators, the lovely Patsy Collins who joined me on the podcast not that long ago, pointed out that there are all sorts of miracles that happen, including some everyday miracles we never know about, because they happen behind the scenes. Temporal Summation in Chronic Pelvic Pain.
CONCLUSION: Women with chronic pelvic pain and allodynia show significant worsening of pain with successive strokes of a cotton-tip applicator, thus indicates that wind-up and central sensitization are present in women with chronic pelvic pain and allodynia. Clinical Validation of Non-Invasive Cardiac Output Monitoring in Healthy Pregnant Women.
CONCLUSIONS: There is no gold standard for the measurement of cardiac output in the setting of pregnancy. However, once normal values have been established, NICOM has the potential to be a useful clinical tool for monitoring maternal hemodynamics in pregnant women. Further investigation regarding the validity of NICOM is required in larger populations of healthy and hypertensive pregnant women to determine whether this device is appropriate for maternal hemodynamic assessment during pregnancy.
