Psychological experience and social reintegration needs of young stroke patients: a systematic review and meta-aggregation of qualitative studies
CONCLUSION: Stroke, as a traumatic event, disrupts the life structure of young patients, and their needs of reintegration are not adequately considered. Interventions based on the principle of individuation should focus on this issue to restore continuity in life after stroke.PMID:35653793 | DOI:10.1080/07370016.2022.2077074

Satisfaction with care and rehabilitation among people with stroke, from hospital to community care
ConclusionTo ensure high quality throughout the whole stroke care chain, people with stroke must be invited to participate in the care and the planning of care. To offer evidence‐based stroke rehabilitation, it is important that the rehabilitation is specific, intense, and performed by professionals, regardless of where the rehabilitation is performed. A changed view of the patient's autonomy in residential community services should be developed, and this process must start from the staff and residents.

Addressing the burden of stroke caregivers: a literature review
ConclusionsThe literature review has shown that research regarding the risk of caregiver burden and the resulting health compromise is scarce. In addition, there is a lack of evidence‐based nursing interventions aimed at assuaging the risk of caregiver burden. Relevance to clinical practiceCaregiver stress culminating in burden is commonly a reason for the eventual institutionalisation of the stroke survivor. Critically assessing and providing for the physical, psychosocial and educational support needs of stroke caregivers will assist in mitigating the daily burden experienced by the caregiver. Caregiver burden often re...

Excessive Daytime Sleepiness in Stroke Survivors: An Integrative Review
Excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) is a prevalent symptom among stroke survivors. This symptom is an independent risk factor for stroke and may reduce stroke survivors’ quality of life, cognitive functioning, and daytime functional performance. The lack of a universally accepted definition of EDS makes it difficult to measure EDS and synthesize research. The purpose of this integrative review is to describe poststroke EDS, ascertain conceptual and operational definitions of EDS, identify factors that contribute to EDS in stroke survivors, and explore outcomes associated with EDS in stroke survivors. We searched the f...
