Effect of prior stroke on long ‐term outcomes of percutaneous coronary interventions in Chinese patients: A large single‐center study
ConclusionsPrior stroke history was the only predictor of risk of post ‐PCI stroke. The noncerebrovascular adverse events were not increased after adjusted analyses of baseline characteristics and propensity analyses.

Left atrial appendage angiography for stroke risk prediction in patients with atrial fibrillation
Conclusions: Impaired mechanical function of the LAA, indicated by a low LAAEF and CR, is associated with a history of stroke in patients with AF. Assessment of CR using LAA angiography helps improve the stratification scheme for stroke risk prediction.PMID:37594402 | DOI:10.4244/EIJ-D-23-00325

Obstructive carotid and/or intracranial artery disease rarely affects the incidence of haemodynamic ischaemic stroke during cardiac surgery: a study on brain perfusion single-photon emission computed tomography with acetazolamide ADULT CARDIAC
CONCLUSIONS It is unusual for CIAD to affect the incidence of haemodynamic ischaemic stroke during cardiac surgery. Brain perfusion SPECT with acetazolamide is effective for narrowing down patients at high risk of ischaemic stroke during cardiac surgery. Meanwhile, the application of brain perfusion single-photon emission tomography should be confined only to patients with obstructive CIAD because it is an expensive examination tool.

Prevalence of carotid stenosis and its correlation with incidence of perioperative stroke in patients of coronary artery bypass graft surgery
Conclusion Incidence of perioperative stroke does not depend on severity of carotid stenosis but on number of other risk factors and operative technique.

Endovascular therapy of acute ischaemic stroke by interventional cardiologists: single-centre experience from Turkey.
CONCLUSIONS: This single-centre experience with mechanical thrombectomy devices demonstrated that the procedure could be performed safely with high success rates by experienced interventional cardiologists in suitably equipped cathlabs. PMID: 25415153 [PubMed - in process]

Feasibility and safety of direct catheter-based thrombectomy in the treatment of acute ischemic stroke. Cooperation of cardiologists, neurologists and radiologists. Prospective registry PRAGUE-16.
CONCLUSIONS: Direct catheter-based thrombectomy may be considered in patients with contraindications for thrombolysis or in patients with very short CT - groin puncture times. A randomized trial is needed to better evaluate the role of direct catheter-based thrombectomy. Acute stroke interventions performed in close cooperation of cardiologists, neurologists and radiologists are feasible and safe. PMID: 28242586 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Stroke Following Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair: Determinants, Short and Long Term Impact
We performed a contemporary assessment of clinical and radiographic factors of stroke after thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR). Patients undergoing TEVAR from 2006-2017 were identified. We assessed clinical and radiographic data, including preoperative head and neck computed tomography, Doppler ultrasonography and intraoperative angiography. Our primary outcome was stroke after TEVAR. 479 patients underwent TEVAR, mean age 68.1 ±19.5 years, 52.6% male. Indications for TEVAR included aneurysms (n=238, 49.7%) or dissections (n=152, 31.7%).

Todd's paralysis due to hyperperfusion syndrome after carotid endarterectomy mimicking postoperative stroke
J Cardiovasc Surg (Torino). 2023 Jun 19. doi: 10.23736/S0021-9509.23.12720-0. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTTodd's paralysis is a neurological deficit that is observed in <10% of patients following epileptic seizures. Cerebral hyperperfusion syndrome (CHS) is a rare complication following carotid endarterectomy (CEA), seen in 0-3% of the patients, characterized by focal neurological deficit, headache, disorientation, and sometimes seizures. In this case report, we present a case of CHS after CEA followed by seizures and Todd's paralysis that mimicked postoperative stroke. A 75-year-old female patient was admitted for CE...
