Beyond the Aortic Root: Staged Open and Endovascular Repair of Arch and Descending Aorta in Patients with Connective Tissue Disorders
Conclusions Most patients with CTDs who require operations beyond the aortic root have aortic dissection and require multiple reinterventions. Staged repair strategies, including open repair in combination with TEVAR, are feasible, and benefits outweigh risks. These patients require lifelong imaging surveillance.

Cardiac risk stratification in patients undergoing endovascular aortic repair.
Authors: Biagi P, de Donato G, Setacci C Abstract Endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) for abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) is the preferred first treatment option in case of patients with advanced age and/or fit anatomy owing to shorter length of in hospital staying, less complications or laparotomy-related re- interventions, and lower initial costs. Although it is a less-invasive intervention, EVAR entails a risk similar to that of open aortic procedures for medical comorbidities, and a perioperative clinical evaluation is mandatory to minimize the early and late cardiovascular risk. In this brief review the determi...

Endovascular repair of pseudoaneurysms after open surgery for aortic coarctation
CONCLUSIONS Endovascular treatment of post-coarctation pseudoaneurysms is feasible in elective and emergency cases, yielding durable results in the long term. Due to anatomical specifics, implantation may be challenging and requires careful procedural planning. On-site cardiothoracic surgery backup is essential in case open conversion is required.

Risk factors for distal stent graft-induced new entry following endovascular repair of type B aortic dissection.
CONCLUSIONS: Our results show that TEVAR performed during the acute phase and using stent grafts longer than 145 mm could decrease the incidence of DSINE in patients with TBAD. Tapered stent grafts with a proximal end 4-8 mm larger than the distal end may be helpful in preventing DSINE after TEVAR performed in the acute phase than TEVAR performed in the chronic phase, due to the difference in mobility of the dissected flap. Expedite repeat TEVAR is recommended to improve the clinical prognosis for patients with DSINE. PMID: 26716029 [PubMed]

Subsequent Results for Arch Aneurysm Repair with Inner Branched Endografts.
CONCLUSIONS: The early outcomes associated with this technology are favorable. Branched endografting of aortic arch aneurysms should be considered in patients unfit for open surgery. PMID: 26818022 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Endovascular repair or open repair for ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm: a Cochrane systematic review
Conclusions Outcomes between eEVAR and open repair, specifically 30-day mortality, are similar. However, further high-quality trials are required, as the paucity of data currently limits the conclusions.

Pararenal Aortic Ulcer Repair.
CONCLUSION: Encouraging results of endovascular treatment of pararenal PAUs were observed. One major and fatal complication was encountered, which underlines the complexity and risks of the techniques. Another patient required re-intervention owing to an endoleak following off label use of covered stents for Ch-EVAR. FEVAR, which generally requires a custom made graft, was increasingly applied over the study period, potentially because of an increased awareness of this distinct pathology allowing for elective procedure planning. Ch-EVAR and hybrid procedures were predominantly used in symptomatic patients, whereas FEVAR wa...

Subarachnoid Hemorrhage with and without Concomitant Sickle Cell Disease, a Comparison Using the Nationwide Inpatient Sample (S4.004)
Conclusions: Based on these data, 2 out of every 1000 cases of SAH in the United States, will be related to SCD. SAH occurs at a much younger age in patients with SCD. Prognosis in patients with SAH related to SCD may be better than in non-SCD patients.Disclosure: Dr. Al Zahmi has nothing to disclose. Dr. Conners has nothing to disclose. Early Experiences with the Endovascular Repair of Ruptured Descending Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm.
CONCLUSION: TEVAR for rDTAA was associated with favorable early mortality and morbidity outcomes. However, early reintervention should be considered if persistent endoleak occurs. PMID: 27064672 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Branched Endovascular Therapy of the Distal Aortic Arch: Preliminary Results of the Feasibility Multicenter Trial of the Gore Thoracic Branch Endoprosthesis
Conclusions Total endovascular repair of distal zone 2 arch aortic aneurysms can be achieved with a novel branched arch endograft. Future studies will evaluate the feasibility of this approach for aneurysms encompassing the brachiocephalic trunk and left carotid artery.

E-067 Endovascular Approach in the Repair of the Middle Cerebral Artery Aneurysm Including Those with Wide Neck and Complex in Morphology-A Case Series
ConclusionsEndovascular repair of the MCA aneurysm inclosing those with wide neck and complex are not only safe and feasible, but associated with high long-term functional outcome. Therefore, endovascular options must be offered to patients prior to surgical clipping of a MCA aneurysm. Further study may be warranted.DisclosuresY. Lodi: None. V. Reddy: None.
