Stroke-Specific Quality of Life one-year post-stroke in two Scandinavian country-regions with different organisation of rehabilitation services: a prospective study.
Conclusions: Successful improvements in one-year functioning in both country-regions may result from optimising long-term rehabilitation services to address cognitive, emotional, and social functioning. Correlates of participation six months after stroke in an Italian population: results from the RIPS (Post-Stroke Intensive Rehabilitation) Study
CONCLUSIONS: In our cohort of patients addressing postacute stroke rehabilitation, prestroke participation levels were on average good, while they were severely reduced six months after stroke for all the considered items except reading and making trips. Using robot fully assisted functional movements in upper-limb rehabilitation of chronic stroke patients: preliminary results.
CONCLUSION: This preliminary study shows that a robotic intervention based on functional movements, fully assisted, can be effective in promoting function in chronic stroke patients. These results are promising considering the short time of the intervention (1 month) and the time from the stroke event, which was large (27±20 months). A larger study, comprehensive of objective instrumental measures, is necessary to confirm the results. A systematic review examining the effect of vitamin D supplementation on functional outcomes post-stroke
CONCLUSIONS: The majority of studies showed a statistical improvement in motor function, mobility, and stroke impairment with vitamin D supplementation; however, the evidence did not support an improvement in activities of daily living with treatment. A qualitative exploration of the effect of visual field loss on daily life in home-dwelling stroke survivors.
CONCLUSIONS:: Visual field loss has a marked impact on stroke survivors. Stroke survivors lack perception of their visual loss in everyday life, resulting in fear and loss of confidence. Does outcome of neuropsychological treatment in patients with unilateral spatial neglect after stroke affect functional outcome?
CONCLUSIONS: The outcome of the whole rehabilitation resulted affected by the outcome of neuropsychological treatment in patients with USN, being a low score at Barrage test at the beginning of therapy a negative predictor of USN recovery. CLINICAL REHABILITATION IMPACT: Patients with USN after stroke can benefit of a specific training for reducing USN also in terms of functional outcome. Combined effects of robot-assisted gait training and botulinum toxin type A effect on spastic equinus foot in patients with chronic stroke: a pilot, single blind, randomized controlled trial.
CONCLUSIONS: Our preliminary findings support the hypothesis that robot-assisted gait training does not enhance the effect of botulinum toxin type A on spastic equinus foot in patients with chronic stroke. Effect of subtypes of neglect on functional outcome in stroke patients
