Delayed recognition of Type II decompression sickness in a diver with chronic atrial fibrillation
CONCLUSION: The presence of symptoms attributed to a stroke immediately after a scuba dive should not deter a trial of HBO2 therapy. The delay in starting HBO2 therapy is concerning and perhaps the reason recovery was delayed and the need for repetitive HBO2 therapies.PMID:35580489

Brain structure and stroke risk score in subjects without a history of atrial fibrillation
Scand Cardiovasc J. 2022 Dec;56(1):100-102. doi: 10.1080/14017431.2022.2074094.ABSTRACTCHA2DS2-VASc score system aids in clinical decision-making in subjects with atrial fibrillation (AF). Little is known on the association between CHA2DS2-VASc scores and brain structure in patients without cardiac arrhythmia. Detailed brain architecture analysis was performed. Assessment of bivariate correlation between the volume of segmented brain structures and Z-scores of CHA2DS2-VASc showed that higher risk scores correlated negatively and significantly with various brain framework. Our study confirms that a cluster of risk factors i...

Po-697-02 impact of left atrial appendage stump on arrhythmogenicity and stroke risk after atri-clip in patients with persistent atrial fibrillation
Surgical left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) with an atrial clip (Atricure) is frequently performed for stroke prophylaxis in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). Scant data exist for arrhythmogenicity and thromboembolic risk with the residual LAA stump.

Po-644-03 impact of pre-procedural planning with a novel cardiac ct software platform on the efficiency of a left atrial appendage closure procedure
Percutaneous left atrial appendage closure (LAAC) is an accepted option for stroke prevention in high-risk patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) unable to take long-term oral anticoagulation. Cardiac CT scans are increasingly being used for pre-procedural planning of structural heart procedures. However, the impact of pre-procedural planning on LAAC procedures is unknown.

Right Fusiform Gyrus Infarct with Acute Prosopagnosia
Acta Neurol Taiwan. 2022 Dec 30;31(4):186-187.ABSTRACTA 56-year-old, right-handed man with no known past medical history presented with sudden onset of inability to recognize familiar individuals in person, including his wife and his mother. He also couldn't recognize himself in the mirror. There was no weakness, numbness, visual disturbances, or speech difficulty. Face recognition test, using Warrington Recognition Memory Test (1), showed the presence of complete prosopagnosia. The rest of the neurological and cranial nerves examinations were normal. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the brain showed restricted diffusio...
