Short-term cardiovascular events after bariatric surgery in patients with metabolic syndrome
CONCLUSIONS: Patients with MetS have an increased frequency of cardiac events following bariatric surgery. Major Adverse Cardiovascular Events Among Obese Patients with Diabetes After Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery: a Meta-analysis of Matched Cohort and Prospective Controlled Studies with 122,361 Participates
ConclusionOur meta-analysis indicated that MBS for obese patients with diabetes is beneficial to decreasing MACE risk. Moreover, further studies estimating the functional effect may eventually provide a better and comprehensive understanding of the effect on different populations.Graphical Abstract

Stroke-related risk factors during pregnancy in women who had metabolic and bariatric surgery compared to women without metabolic and bariatric surgery.
Stroke during pregnancy is rare, occurring in 30 of 100,000 pregnancies, and accounting for 7% of maternal deaths in the United States from 2016 to 2018. Metabolic and bariatric surgery (MBS) have been shown to reduce symptoms of chronic conditions that are risk factors for stroke, including hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, and diabetes in women. However, little is known about the impact of MBS on stroke risk during pregnancy.
