Pathogenesis and Risk Factors for Cerebral Infarct After Surgical Aortic Valve Replacement Brief Reports
Conclusions— The principal mechanism of acute cerebral infarction after aortic valve replacement is embolism. There are distinct factors associated with watershed and embolic infarct, some of which may be modifiable.

Neurological Events Following Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement and Their Predictors: A Report From the CoreValve Trials Structural Heart Disease
Conclusions— Predictors of early stroke after TAVR included clinical and procedural factors; predictors of later stroke were limited to patient but not anatomic characteristics. These findings indicate that further refinement of imaging to identify anatomic factors predisposing to embolization may help improve stroke prediction in patients undergoing TAVR. Meta-Analysis of Perioperative Stroke and Mortality in CABG Patients With Carotid Stenosis
Conclusions: Together, these data suggest an association between stroke and mortality in the perioperative period in patients undergoing CABG, demonstrating a need for improved monitoring, screening, and treatment of stroke before, during, and shortly after surgery.

Predicting postoperative ischemic stroke problems in patients following coronary bypass surgery using neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio, platelet-lymphocyte ratio, and red blood cell distribution width values
CONCLUSIONS: In patients undergoing CABG, high preoperative PLR, NLR, and RDW values can be used as useful and independent risk factors for the prediction of postoperative ischemic stroke.PMID:35891995 | PMC:PMC9290396 | DOI:10.5114/kitp.2022.117499
