Investigating the prevalence of and predictive and risk factors for pulmonary embolism in patients with COVID-19 in Nemazee Teaching Hospital
CONCLUSION: Regression analysis revealed that age, blood pressure, heart attack, and albumin levels were independent predictors of PTE.PMID:37431097 | DOI:10.5045/br.2023.2023076

Risk factors for post-discharge major thromboembolism and mortality in hospitalized patients with COVID-19 with cardiovascular comorbidities
Conclusions COVID-19 inpatients with cardiovascular disease experience high rates of ATE, VTE, or ACM through 90 days post-discharge. Age > 75 years, PAD, CAS, CHF, previous VTE, and ICU admission are independent risk factors.PMID:37146648 | DOI:10.1055/a-2087-3003

Elevated thrombin generation levels in the left atrial appendage in patients with atrial fibrillation
CONCLUSION: In patients with AF undergoing catheter ablation, the LAA demonstrated increased thrombin generation compared with the LA. This finding might contribute to the understanding of why the LAA is more predisposed to thrombus formation than the LA.CLINICAL TRIALS REGISTRATION: NCT03795883.PMID:37063762 | PMC:PMC10099305 | DOI:10.1016/j.rpth.2023.100127

Thrombosis and bleeding in patients with COVID-19 requiring extracorporeal membrane oxygenation: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Circuit thrombosis and major bleeding were the most common thrombotic and bleeding events. The incidence of ICH was significantly higher when ECMO was indicated for COVID-19 than for other respiratory diseases. There is no evidence for stronger anticoagulation practice, and remains no consistent anticoagulation strategy to reduce the occurrence of thrombosis and bleeding under the double "hit" of COVID-19 and ECMO.PMID:36999123 | PMC:PMC9993729 | DOI:10.1016/j.rpth.2023.100103
