Cost and Utility of Routine Contrast-Enhanced Neck MRA in a Pediatric MRI Stroke Evaluation Protocol PEDIATRICS
CONCLUSIONS: In our large series, the addition of a routine contrast-enhanced neck MRA to our pediatric stroke MR imaging protocol was of extremely low yield. We believe the use of neck MRA should reasonably be limited to cases in which abnormalities are initially detected on standard brain sequences or to patients with atypical presentation or recurrent pathology.

Screening via CT angiogram after traumatic cervical spine fractures: narrowing imaging to improve cost effectiveness. Experience of a Level I trauma center.
CONCLUSIONS Cost-effective screening must be reevaluated in the setting of blunt cervical spine fractures on a case-by-case basis. Further prospective studies must be performed to elucidate the utility of screening for VAI and posterior circulation stroke prevention, if identified. Use of the Corus® CAD Gene Expression Test for Assessment of Obstructive Coronary Artery Disease Likelihood in Symptomatic Non-Diabetic Patients
Conclusions The Corus CAD test has been extensively evaluated since it was first derived, including with two prospective multi-center trials. Given the scope of the deleterious effects of CAD and the considerable costs involved in diagnosing obstructive CAD, a blood test that can help in this determination is certainly valuable. The Corus CAD test promises to have an important role in this regard particularly if it continues to perform this well in larger, more diverse cohorts.

ACR Responds to MEDCAC on Peripheral Arterial Disease Care for Seniors
Reston, VA — The American College of Radiology (ACR) — as a member of a coalition of leading medical societies — provided peripheral arterial disease (PAD) treatment recommendations to the Medicare Evidence Development Coverage Advisory Committee (MEDCAC). In addition, the coalition called for continued research in how to provide the best care for U.S. seniors with lower extremity PAD. “Identifying quality health care and impacting the treatment of a disease that affects millions of Americans are critical,” said Anne C.
