E-126 Multicenter flow diversion in 200 patients for treatment of intracranial aneurysms
ConclusionThis report characterizes patient demographics, aneurysm characteristics, procedure complications and long-term angiographic and clinical outcomes for a large patient population across multiple medical centers treated with flow diversion. Overall, procedures resulted in a high rate of occlusion and low rate of serious complications. Continued iterative outcomes analysis is warranted particularly as flow diversion technology evolves. Despite diverse hospital settings, differences in presentation, patient characteristics and the inclusion of off-label treatments, flow diversion procedures remained safe and effectiv...

Effect of Age, Stage, and Type of Surgical Revascularization on Clinical and Angiographic Outcome in Moyamoya Disease & #8211; Experience from a Case Series of 175 Revascularization Procedures
Conclusions: In pediatrics, clinical and angiographic outcome significantly improved after revascularization procedure, and in adults, angiographic improvement was more evident than clinical recovery. Late-stage Suzuki MMD patients demonstrated significantly better clinical improvement than early stage. The angiographic improvement was equivalent to early stage, irrespective of age and type of revascularization.

Propensity of Stroke in Standard versus Various Aortic Arch Variants: A 200 Patients Study
CONCLUSIONS: Standard aortic arch Type 2, bovine aortic arch Type A, and Type B are associated with an early age at stroke presentation. During routine carotid evaluation by CT or MR angiography in stroke patients, it would be better to evaluate the aortic arch as well, especially in young patients.PMID:36211155 | PMC:PMC9540953 | DOI:10.4103/aian.aian_710_21

Mechanical Thrombectomy in Acute Ischemic Stroke: Angiographic Predictors of Outcome
Conclusion: Lower clot burden and less degree of recanalization were associated with poor outcome in acute ischemic stroke due to Large vessel occlusion (LVO). The presence of ICAD also predicted poor outcome.

Stroke and the Bovine Aortic Arch: Incidental or Deliberate ? A Comparative Study and our Experience
Conclusions: Bovine aortic arch is a risk factor for young-onset anterior circulation stroke. Bilateral and left-sided infarcts were more common. Endovascular procedures are difficult to perform through conventional routes, so brachioradial access is preferred.

Pattern and Severity of Leukoaraiosis and Microvascular Resistance- Inputs from a TCD Study from South Asia
Conclusions: Our study confirms the correlation of Pulsatility Index with leukoaraiosis in South-Asian patients. Interestingly, changes in microvascular resistance appeared to be similar for both periventricular and deep white matter leukoaraiosis in spite of potential differences in etiopathogenesis.

Carotid Plaque Imaging: Strategies beyond Stenosis
Ann Indian Acad Neurol. 2022 Jan-Feb;25(1):11-14. doi: 10.4103/aian.aian_483_21. Epub 2021 Aug 23.ABSTRACTAtherosclerosis at the carotid bifurcation in the neck is common and the result of turbulent hemodynamics in the bulb. Carotid bulb plaques cause disabling strokes. Carotid vessel wall imaging characterizes the atherosclerotic plaque, documents disease progression, and assesses lesion severity by plaque morphology in addition to the degree of stenosis. This in turn optimizes treatment selection for the individual patient. The aim of vessel wall imaging in patients of stroke is to distinguish stable plaques that may be ...

Epidemiology of Moyamoya Angiopathy in Eastern India
ConclusionMMA is an important etiological consideration in patients with stroke, especially in children. It can present with a myriad of transient neurological symptoms, frequently overlooked, leading to delayed diagnosis, and contributing to socio-economic burden. Indian MMA showed aberrations in its gender predisposition, age distribution, frequency of familial cases, disease manifestation, and type of stroke, in comparison to its Japanese and Caucasian counterparts pointing to the inter- and intra-continent differences of MMA phenotype. Future development of the Indian MMA national registry is of essence.

Prevalence of Aortic Plaques in Cryptogenic Ischemic Stroke: Correlation to Vascular Risk Factors and Future Events
Conclusions: Aortic plaques are an under-recognized cause of cryptogenic stroke. The significant risk factors in aortic plaque group highlight the importance of aggressive risk factor control for secondary stroke prevention.

Assessment of Collaterals Using Multiphasic CT Angiography in Acute Stroke: Its Correlation with Clinical Outcomes
Conclusion: Multiphase CT collateral system was superior to single-phase angiography in predicting the long-term functional outcomes. Prediction of the hemorrhagic transformation risk was also observed to be better for multiphase CT.
