Association Between Endogenous Testosterone and Cerebrovascular Disease in the ARIC Study (Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities) Clinical Sciences
Conclusions—After controlling for atherosclerotic risk factors, there was no association between endogenous testosterone and incident clinical stroke or ischemic brain changes in community-dwelling men.

High Detection Rate of Atrial Fibrillation With Insertable Cardiac Monitor Implantation in Patients With Cryptogenic Stroke Diagnosed by Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Background: Detection and treatment of atrial fibrillation (AF) is a major goal in preventing secondary stroke. Insertable cardiac monitors (ICMs) are available for diagnosis of arrhythmia monitoring in patients with cryptogenic stroke. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-based diagnostic evaluation for acute ischemic stroke subtype classification is common in Japan and can be useful for specific diagnosis of cryptogenic stroke. Purpose: We aimed to investigate the detection rate of AF with an ICM in patients with cryptogenic stroke who were diagnosed by MRI.

Longitudinal changes of motor cortex function during motor recovery after stroke
CONCLUSIONS: Our results show that motor cortical activation induced by moving the paretic hand changes over time. ConclusionsOur study will clarify whether angiotensin‐converting enzyme inhibitors or angiotensin II receptor blockers are more effective for preventing primary and recurrence of ischemic stroke, including the progression of asymptomatic cerebral lesions on magnetic resonance imaging, in elderly hypertensive patients.

Conclusions Results from HASIS suggest information from admission CTP and SI in suspected AIS patients can predict final infarct volume, where final volume of infarcted brain will not be smaller than that predicted by CTP CBV or CTA SI.

Variation in Risk Factors for Recent Small Subcortical Infarcts With Infarct Size, Shape, and Location Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— Lacunar infarcts in the basal ganglia caused marginally severer strokes and were 3 times more likely to have a potential embolic source than those in the centrum semiovale, but the overall rate of carotid or known cardiac embolic sources (11%) was low. We found no evidence that other risk factors differed with location, size, or shape, suggesting that most lacunar infarcts share a common intrinsic arteriolar pathology.
