Fracture treatment in atrophic mandible
CONCLUSIONS: Treatment of fractures in atrophic mandibles with plates and screws is a reliable procedure. Luhr classification provide useful guidance regarding the use of bone grafts for best osteogenic response in the fracture. This treatment allows a quick restart of the feeding by mouth and movilization of the patients.PMID:37084311 | DOI:10.24875/CIRU.21000281

Outcomes of Complex Endovascular Treatment of Post-Dissection Aneurysms
CONCLUSION: Complex endovascular repair of chronic post-dissection aneurysms is feasible, but is associated with high rates of re-interventions and non-trivial rates of lack of technical success. More data are needed to evaluate the long term durability of these procedures, and the utility of centralising these complex procedures.PMID:37087065 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejvs.2023.04.013

The Impact of Full Collapse on the Risk of Ischaemic Stroke in Patients with Carotid Near Occlusion
Carotid near occlusion (CNO) is a severe carotid stenosis associated with a reduction in the calibre of the extracranial internal carotid artery distal to the stenosis.1 The risk of ipsilateral stroke in patients with CNO is a controversial issue. While a post hoc analysis of the North American Symptomatic Carotid Endarterectomy Trial (NASCET) and the European Carotid Surgery Trial (ECST) reported a lower risk of ipsilateral stroke for medically treated patients with CNO compared with patients with severe (70 –99%) carotid stenosis2, more recent studies have shown that the CNO recurrence rate may be higher.

Vascular dialysis access created in a paretic arm of a patient with a history of cerebral stroke: A case report
J Vasc Access. 2023 Apr 17:11297298231168673. doi: 10.1177/11297298231168673. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA patent vascular access is of crucial importance for patients on dialysis. There is no literature describing the success rate and complications of creating dialysis fistulae in a paretic arm. In addition, the risk for non-maturation of dialysis fistula is thought to be high due to the inactivity, muscle atrophy, vascular changes, and higher risk of thrombosis in paretic limbs. Here we describe a case of a successful creation and maturation of a native dialysis fistula.PMID:37070171 | DOI:10.1177/11297298231168673

Sex differences in Outcome after Carotid Revascularization in Symptomatic and Asymptomatic Carotid Artery Stenosis
Sex differences regarding the safety and efficacy of carotid revascularization in carotid artery stenosis have been addressed in several studies with conflicting results. Moreover, women are underrepresented in clinical trials leading to limited conclusions regarding the safety and efficacy of acute stroke treatments.
