Delivery of high quality stroke and vision care: experiences of UK services.
CONCLUSIONS: Practical elements for improved stroke and vision care provision are highlighted which can be implemented with relatively little financial inputs. Implications for Rehabilitation Integrated vision services within stroke units can improve the detection of visual problems in stroke survivors leading to earlier visual rehabilitation. Orthoptists within core stroke teams are beneficial to the delivery of a high quality service. This study illustrates clear practical elements to support the provision of high quality integrated stroke and vision services. Relatively little financial inputs are required to fund such ...

Efficiency in stroke management from acute care to rehabilitation: bedside versus telemedicine consultation.
CONCLUSIONS: it has been highlighted that the use of telemedicine to perform medical consultation as a tool to evaluate patients eligible for tertiary care rehabilitation hospital admission from stroke care unit is feasible and more efficient when compared with conventional bedside consultations. CLINICAL REHABILITATION IMPACT: this study reveals teleconsultations as a useful tool to improve efficiency of the stroke management workflow. PMID: 30370750 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Impact of an outpatient telestroke clinic on management of rural stroke patients
CONCLUSION: The telestroke clinic was very well attended, and it led to high volume of interventions in rural stroke patients.PMID:35412702 | DOI:10.1111/ajr.12849

Technical note on endovascular treatment of concomitant carotid occlusion in large vessel occlusion stroke: The "single-cross" technique.
CONCLUSIONS: The single-cross technique appears to be a safe and effective option for treating tandem occlusive lesions in the setting of ELVO. PMID: 31311374 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

National post hospital care project and length of hospitalization of patients with stroke 2010 - 2011.
Conclusion: The National Post Hospital Care Project is unable to meet the actual needs although the waiting time has reduced, possibly due to the increased number of beds and the possibility of patients waiting at home. PMID: 24388254 [PubMed - in process]

032 Improving access to inpatient ambulatory cardiac monitoring for acute stroke patients during the Covid-19 pandemic
Discussion There was a significant shift in clinical practice and diagnostic access to inpatient ACM during the pandemic, resulting in a greater proportion of tests, increased identification of AF and early anticoagulation, leading to improved patient care and potentially preventing further ischaemic events. harriet jeffery@nhs.net|ABN Bursary 41

P-042 Initial experience with tenecteplase as the intravenous thrombolytic of choice before mechanical thrombectomy for large vessel occlusion acute ischemic stroke
ConclusionIntravenous TNK in patients with LVOAIS is feasible, safe and effective. In our cohort from ‘real world’ patients, TNK was associated with lower need for MT, high recanalization rates and shorter hospitalization.Disclosures U. Ugur: None. S. Platko: None. D. Peters: None. Re: ‘The True Risk of Early Recurrent Stroke: Importance of Cohort Composition and Index Event Definition’
In the individual patient with symptomatic significant carotid artery stenosis there are two means of reducing the overall risk of recurrent stroke: (i) by early recognition of the presenting symptom and fast work up to perform expedited carotid revascularization thus preventing recurrent events in the waiting time to surgery; and (ii) by performing safe carotid revascularization.1,2

Timing of carotid intervention in symptomatic carotid artery stenosis: a topical review
CONCLUSIONS: Collecting data on events during waiting time to intervention and developing reporting standards for these waiting times seem to be the key for unraveling this controversy.PMID:37000160 | DOI:10.23736/S0021-9509.23.12624-3
