Association between PDE4D rs966221 polymorphism and risk of ischemic stroke: a systematic review and meta-analysis
In conclusion, our meta-analysis demonstrated that the SNP83 polymorphism in the PDE4D gene might contribute to IS susceptibility especially in Asian populations. Whereas the relationship of the polymorphism to the disease in Caucasian population was still in controversial. In future, addi tional well designed studies with larger sample sizes are still required to further elucidate this association.

Association of long noncoding RNA H19 polymorphisms with the susceptibility and clinical features of ischemic stroke in southern Chinese Han population
This study aimed to investigate long noncoding RNA H19 (lncRNA H19) expression in IS cases and the association between lncRNA H19 variants and IS risk and IS-related risk factors. A total of 550 IS cases and 550 controls were recruited for this study. LncRNA H19 expression was detected using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. Tim-3 cell signaling and iNOS are involved in the protective effects of ischemic postconditioning against focal ischemia in rats
We examined whether iNOS, nitrotyrosine, and COX-2, as well as galectin-9/Tim-3 are involved in the protective effects of IpostC in a rat focal ischemia model. Western blot and confocal immunofluoresent staining results indicate that IPostC significantly inhibited Tim-3 expression, and that galectin-9 expression was also inhibited. In addition, IPostC attenuated production of iNOS and nitrotyrosine, but not COX-2, suggesting that IPostC has distinct effects on these inflammatory factors.
