Online Self-Directed Learning Module: A Literature Review
The lack of dedicated time and standardized education for stroke coordinators focusing on program disease-specific care certification standards has led to undue added stress prior to survey. The purpose of this literature review is to provide staff development educators an alternative method to train stroke coordinators. Findings suggest that online self-directed learning modules are useful in acquiring knowledge, gaining clinical competency, improving confidence, and meeting the learners’ needs and satisfaction.

Nurses’ fidelity to theory‐based core components when implementing Family Health Conversations – a qualitative inquiry
Background and aimA family systems nursing intervention, Family Health Conversation, has been developed in Sweden by adapting the Calgary Family Assessment and Intervention Models and the Illness Beliefs Model. The intervention has several theoretical assumptions, and one way translate the theory into practice is to identify core components. This may produce higher levels of fidelity to the intervention. Besides information about how to implement an intervention in accordance to how it was developed, evaluating whether it was actually implemented as intended is important. Accordingly, we describe the nurses’ fidelity to ...

Education for nurses working in cardiovascular care: A European survey
Conclusion: There is variability in the content, teaching, learning and evaluation methods in post-registration cardiovascular nurse education programmes in Europe. Cardiovascular nurse education would be strengthened with a stronger focus upon content that reflects current health challenges faced in Europe. A broader view of cardiovascular disease to include stroke and peripheral vascular disease is recommended with greater emphasis on prevention, rehabilitation and the impact of health inequalities.

Characteristics of the relationship that develops from nurse‐caregiver communication during telecare
ConclusionsThe flexibility of the service allows the possibility of engaging in a close, or to some extent, a more distant relationship, depending on the participants' attitudes towards using this type of service. Relevance to clinical practiceNurses can provide close care, support and information to caregivers who endeavour to master their everyday lives together with their sick spouses. The support seems to help the caregivers cope with their own physical and emotional problems.

Bundle up: Introducing care bundles to increase knowledge and confidence of senior nursing students
Nursing graduates transitioning to practice are expected to be safe and competent practitioners. Health organizations promote the use of evidence-based practices such as care bundles to improve patient outcomes and provide quality health care. This research describes the introduction of 2 care bundles, sepsis, and acute stroke to senior associate degree nursing students in a clinical day on campus. The researchers used high-fidelity simulation as a teaching methodology to increase knowledge and confidence level in caring for patients in the clinical setting.

Standardising care for heart attack (STEMI) patients, Ireland
Under a reform agenda, the Health Service Executive (HSE) in Ireland initiated the National Clinical Programme for Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) in 2010, as a joint venture with the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI). Early attention was focussed on treatment of patients with ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) as treatment varied nationally depending on distance from a Cardiac centre offering 24/7 primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PPCI) (direct clot removal), a more effective treatment with less complications but requiring specialised facilities compared with thrombolysis (clot dissolving drug ...
