Online Self-Directed Learning Module: A Literature Review
The lack of dedicated time and standardized education for stroke coordinators focusing on program disease-specific care certification standards has led to undue added stress prior to survey. The purpose of this literature review is to provide staff development educators an alternative method to train stroke coordinators. Findings suggest that online self-directed learning modules are useful in acquiring knowledge, gaining clinical competency, improving confidence, and meeting the learners’ needs and satisfaction.

Mobile Application as a Learning Aid for Nurses and Nursing Students to Identify and Care for Stroke Patients: Pretest and Posttest Results.
In this study, a total of 115 nurses from health services in the South of Brazil and 35 nursing students of a community university participated. The stages focused on development, modeling of clinical cases, problem-based learning, pretest (before) app use, and posttest (after) use of the app. The results of the pretest and posttest corrections showed a substantial statistical difference (P < .001), indicating a significant knowledge gain after the use of the app, particularly in terms of the detection scales and interpretation of the imaging tests. Providing Stroke and Hypertension Education in Amharic for Ethiopian Persons Living in Dallas, Texas, United States.
CONCLUSION: This study did not show a statistically significant increase in knowledge about stroke when presented learning materials in subjects' native language compared to in English. The use of video to present stroke and stroke-risk educational content can be used in future research and global health initiatives to increase stroke knowledge in the Amharic-speaking community. Supporting patients with serious mental illness during physical health treatment.
This article explores the reasons for such disparities, using a case study approach to outline the ways that general nurses can support people with SMI when they access general healthcare services. It identifies five areas of learning from the case study: diagnostic overshadowing and stigma; developing the therapeutic relationship; the ward environment; inclusion of family members and carers; and integration of physical and mental health services. Community-Based Stroke Recognition Education and Response: An Evidence-Based Intervention Project.
CONCLUSIONS: FAST was simple to teach and engaging for participants. Using the FAST curriculum in senior center populations increased the participants' awareness of stroke signs and symptoms, and their willingness to activate the 911 emergency system. IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE: Educational interventions in the community with older adults can produce increased awareness of stroke symptoms and willingness to respond when necessary. Learned helplessness in doctors with dyslexia: Time for a change in discourse?
Dyslexia may be defined as a “learning difficulty that specifically impairs a person's ability to read … despite having normal intelligence” (National institute of neurological disorders and stroke, 2011; Dyslexia International, n.d.). It is a Specific Learning Difficulty (SpLD), which has an estimated international preva lence of 10% (Dyslexia International, n.d.; Wray et al., 2012). Within the United Kingdom (UK), it is protected by the Equality Act of 2010 and, therefore, employers are required to make reasonable adjustments to enable individuals with dyslexia to reach their full potential within their jobs (Great Britain, 2010).

Diabetes training for community health workers on an American Indian reservation
ConclusionThis QI program provided by a public health nurse improved CHW's knowledge of diabetes and the management of diabetes. Next steps include formalizing the Reservation's CHW training program, expanding this training to other AI Health Service areas, and measuring the impact of CHWs in the community.
