Short-Term Functional Outcome and its Predictors in a Hospital-Based Cohort of Nigerians with Acute Stroke (P5.171)
CONCLUSIONS: About 1 in 3 stroke patients in this cohort had poor functional outcome. In order to improve functional outcome and reduce the burden of stroke in Nigeria, public health education on early recognition and hospital presentation is needed. Stroke Thrombolysis in a Tertiary Care Teaching Hospital in Saudi Arabia - A Single Center Experience (P2.282)
Conclusions: In our newly established stroke unit, the overall mortality and discharge disposition were comparable to standards. Women had significantly more stroke related complications. In light of recently published clinical trials and their implication for clinical practice, does a large catchment area acute hospital require 24  hour CT neck and head angiography and/or neuro-interventional services in the setting of acute ischaemic stroke?
ConclusionUHL should provide routine CT angiography to all patients presenting with acute ischaemic stroke in line with current guidelines. The need for provision of neuro-interventional services on-site proved more difficult to assess and requires further analysis.

The association between children ’s common Chinese stroke errors and spelling ability
AbstractThe present study adopted an error analysis approach to examine the stroke errors committed by 43 Hong Kong Chinese children of Grades 1 and 3 from a Chinese Character Copying Task. It aimed to determine the common stroke error patterns, developmental changes and the cognitive problems implied. The different types of stroke errors and total number of correct stroke sequence were further linked to Chinese word spelling ability and associated cognitive-linguistic skills.
