Do Non-Functional Adrenal Adenomas Affect Metabolic Profile and Carotid Intima-Media Thickness? A Single Centre Study from Poland
Conclusions: Patients diagnosed with NFAIs, despite normal cortisol inhibition in the 1 mg dexamethasone test, still presented a number of metabolic abnormalities. The assessment of IMT may proove valuable in indicate the presence of early vascular remodelling in asymptomatic patients. The underlying mechanisms of these findings are still unknown, hence further studies are required.PMID:37510727 | PMC:PMC10380859 | DOI:10.3390/jcm12144612

IJERPH, Vol. 20, Pages 4838: The Impact of Meteorological Parameters and Seasonal Changes on Reporting Patients with Selected Cardiovascular Diseases to Hospital Emergency Departments: A Pilot Study
This study aimed to determine the meteorological parameters, their interactions, and the seasonal changes of the most significant factors in predicting the number of patients reporting to the Emergency Departments (EDs) in Poznań (Poland) during 2019. (2) Methods: The analysis included the meteorological parameters and data of 3606 patients diagnosed with essential or complicated arterial hypertension, myocardial infarction, chronic ischemic heart disease, and ischemic or unspecified stroke by the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10). The meteorological data (days per week and seasonal data) were ...

Novel biomarkers and emerging tools to identify causal molecular pathways in hypertension and associated cardiovascular diseases
Kardiol Pol. 2023 Feb 5. doi: 10.33963/KP.a2023.0037. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTHypertension (HT) is a modifiable risk factor for life-threatening cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) including coronary artery disease, heart failure or stroke. Despite significant progress in understanding of the pathophysiological mechanisms of the disease, the molecular pathways targeted by HT treatment still remain largely unchanged. This warrants the necessity for searching novel biomarkers, which are causally related to persistent high blood pressure (BP) and may be pharmacologically targeted. Data from large-scale biobanks, containing h...

The impact of first wave of the SARS-CoV-2 2019 pandemic in Poland on characteristics and outcomes of patients hospitalized due to stable coronary artery disease
CONCLUSIONS: The SARS-CoV-2 2019 pandemic affected the characteristics and hospitalization course of stable angina patients hospitalized following the first wave. The hospitalization outcome was similar in the analyzed time intervals. The higher prevalence of comorbidities raises concern regarding upcoming years.PMID:36200545 | DOI:10.5603/CJ.a2022.0094
