Evaluating the impact of type 2 diabetes mellitus on cardiovascular risk in persons with metabolic syndrome using the UKPDS risk engine
Conclusion: MS was more common in subjects with T2DM compared with controls (irrespective of the diagnostic criteria used) and MS appears to increase the risk of a coronary event in subjects with T2DM by threefold. The relationship between mean platelet volume and albuminuria in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus
ConclusionsThe mean MPV was statistically significantly higher in the uncontrolled DM group and there was a statistically significant positive correlation between MPV and albuminuria.

Prevalence, components and associated demographic and lifestyle factors of the metabolic syndrome in type 2 diabetes mellitus.
CONCLUSION: A comparatively low prevalence of the MetS was found. More females than males had the MetS. Uncontrolled diabetes and abdominal obesity were prevalent. The factors identified by our univariate logistic regression model were not significant predictors of the MetS in our multivariate model. PMID: 25054102 [PubMed]
