Antiphospholipid Syndrome Diagnosed as a Result of the Occurrence of an Ischemic Stroke After a Successful Catheter Ablation of Atrial Fibrillation and Continuous Direct Oral Anticoagulants
We report a case of an ischemic stroke after a successful catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation (AF) and continuous oral anticoagulation therapy with direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs), which was the trigger for diagnosing antiphospholipid syndrome (APS). A 68-year-old woman underwent catheter ablation of persistent AF and continued oral anticoagulation with edoxaban at a dose of 30 mg once daily after the ablation procedure. An asymptomatic intracerebral hemorrhage was detected by brain computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging one month post-ablation. Oral anticoagulation with dabigatran at 110 mg twice daily...

The prevalence of atrial fibrillation in Greenland: a register-based cross-sectional study based on disease classifications and prescriptions of oral anticoagulants
This study estimates the prevalence of AF based on disease classifications in the electronic medical record system (EMR) and prescriptions of oral anticoagulants (OACs). Patients given a diagnose classification code for AF or atrial flutter or prescribed the vitamin K antagonist Warfarin or the direct-acting oral anticoagulant Rivaroxaban were identified in the EMR. Descriptive data and selected laboratory values were extracted, and a minimum CHA2DS2-VASc score was calculated for the 790 patients identified in the EMR (66% men). A total prevalence of AF of 1.4% was found in the general population (1.8% among men and 1.0% a...

Direct Oral Anticoagulants versus Warfarin in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation: Patient-Level Network Meta-Analyses of Randomized Clinical Trials with Interaction Testing by Age and Sex
Conclusions: Compared with warfarin, DOACs have more favorable efficacy and safety profiles among patients with AF.PMID:34985309 | DOI:10.1161/CIRCULATIONAHA.121.056355

Warfarin adherence and anticoagulation control in atrial fibrillation patients: a systematic review
CONCLUSIONS: While the available evidence is limited, this systematic review demonstrated a positive finding of the association between warfarin adherence and anticoagulation control in patients with AF.PMID:34982455 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202112_27642
