Retinal parameters, cortical cerebral microinfarcts and their interaction with cognitive impairment
Conclusions: Retinal vascular and neuronal parameters are associated with cortical CMIs and persons with both pathologies are likely to have cognitive impairment. Further studies may be warranted to evaluate the clinical utility of retinal parameters and CMI in risk prediction for cognitive dysfunction.Data access statement: The data that support the findings of this study is available from the corresponding author upon request.PMID:35450485 | DOI:10.1177/17474930221097737

Prevalence and associated relating factors in patients with hereditary retinal dystrophy: a nationwide population-based study in Taiwan
CONCLUSIONS: 74% of the diagnosed HRD are retinitis pigmentosa. Population-based data suggested an increased incidence of cataract in younger patients, whereas older HRD patients are more susceptible to develop CME. Further work is needed to elucidate the mechanism between these ophthalmological disorders and HRD.PMID:35396285 | DOI:10.1136/bmjopen-2021-054111

Endovascular treatment of anterior cranial base dural arteriovenous fistulas as a first-line approach: a multicenter study
CONCLUSIONS: Most anterior cranial base DAVFs can be successfully treated via an endovascular approach. Neurological and visual complications are rare, even if the ophthalmic artery is used as the primary access route. Efforts should be focused on prospectively comparing the results of EVT and surgical management.PMID:35395632 | DOI:10.3171/2022.2.JNS212588

Central retinal artery occlusion: a retrospective study of disease presentation, treatment, and outcomes
CONCLUSIONS: The majority of patients with CRAO presented to eye care providers, and few present within the potential window for thrombolysis of 4.5 hours, highlighting the need for public awareness strategies. Our cohort highlights the significant rate of systemic comorbidity that exists in these patients.PMID:35307340 | DOI:10.1016/j.jcjo.2022.02.015
