Formic acid induces hypertension-related hemorrhage in hSSAO < sup > TG < /sup > in mice and human
In this study, 42 hemorrhagic patients with hypertension and hyperlipidemia and 42 age-matched healthy controls were enrolled. The contents of serum semicarbazide-sensitive amine oxidase (SSAO) and formic acid (FC, FC is a final product of SSAO through the oxidation of endogenous formaldehyde, which results from the enzymatic oxidative deamination of the SSAO substrate, methylamine) were examined in the patients after stroke. Hemorrhagic areas were quantified by computer tomography. In the animal study, hemorrhagic degree was assessed by hemotoxylin & eosin or tissue hemoglobin kits. The relationship between FC and blo...

Crosstalk between neurological, cardiovascular, and lifestyle disorders: insulin and lipoproteins in the lead role
Pharmacol Rep. 2022 Sep 23. doi: 10.1007/s43440-022-00417-5. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTInsulin resistance and impaired lipoprotein metabolism contribute to a plethora of metabolic and cardiovascular disorders. These alterations have been extensively linked with poor lifestyle choices, such as consumption of a high-fat diet, smoking, stress, and a redundant lifestyle. Moreover, these are also known to increase the co-morbidity of diseases like Type 2 diabetes mellitus and atherosclerosis. Under normal physiological conditions, insulin and lipoproteins exert a neuroprotective role in the central nervous system. However, ...

Guanmaitong Granule Attenuates Atherosclerosis by Inhibiting Inflammatory Immune Response in ApoE < sup > -/- < /sup > Mice Fed High-Fat Diet
CONCLUSION: Radix notoginseng, Radix salviae liguliobae, and Radix astragali are the main ingredients of GMTG for treating AS. Further, GMTG could regulate the level of serum lipids and inhibit inflammatory immune response, which resulted in anti-AS effects such as plaque stabilization, reduction of plaque burden, and plaque remodeling. GMTG is a promising multi-target treatment for AS.PMID:36148321 | PMC:PMC9489104 | DOI:10.2147/DDDT.S372143

Eukaryotic initiation factor 6 repression mitigates atherosclerosis progression by inhibiting macrophages expressing Fasn
AbstractAtherosclerosis, a chronic inflammatory disease that often leads to myocardial infarction and stroke, is mainly caused by lipid accumulation. Eukaryotic initiation factor 6 (Eif6) is a rate-limiting factor in protein translation of transcription factors necessary for lipogenesis. To determine whetherEif6 affects atherosclerosis,Eif6+/ − mice were crossed intoApoe −/− background.Apoe −/−/Eif6+/− mice on high fat diet showed significant reduction in atherosclerotic lesions and necrotic core content in aortic root sections in comparison withApoe −/− mice. RNA-Seq was used to investigate the effect of E...

Mechanism of Tao Hong Decoction in the treatment of atherosclerosis based on network pharmacology and experimental validation
CONCLUSION: THD plays a vital role in treating AS with multiple targets and pathways. Angiogenesis regulation, oxidative stress regulation, and immunity regulation consist of the crucial regulation cores in the mechanism. This study identified essential genes and pathways associated with the prognosis and pathogenesis of AS from new insights, demonstrating a feasible method for researching THD's chemical basis and pharmacology.PMID:36776258 | PMC:PMC9909180 | DOI:10.3389/fcvm.2023.1111475
