A case of ischemic stroke and transient thrombocytopenia in a young female following adenoviral vector-based COVID-19 vaccination: Was the association incidental or causal?
We report a 23-year-old healthy female who developed seizures, altered sensorium, and left hemiparesis, 20 days after receiving the first dose of adenoviral vector-based COVID-19 vaccine "Covishield™." The patient had transient thrombocytopenia. The D-dimer level was 2460 ng/mL. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) demonstrated occlusion of M2 segment of the middle cerebral artery and cerebral infarction. Platelet factor-4 antibodies level was normal. Treatment with aspirin and antiepileptic drugs resulted in a remarkable recovery. This is the first Indian case report of ischemic stroke and transient thrombocytopenia followi...

Acute delirium as an initial manifestation of COVID-19 patients with acute ischemic stroke: Report on two cases
We report two hospitalized cases with SARS-CoV-2 infection and elevated serum D-dimer levels having acute delirium as the initial manifestation of AIS. The diagnostic processes were challenging and time-consuming, so reperfusion therapy could not be given in the therapeutic time window. The diagnoses of AIS were finally made by brain magnetic resonance imaging which showed diffusion restriction at the right middle cerebral artery territory in both cases. Features of psychiatric complications and stroke in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients are reviewed. For the hospitalized COVID-19 patients with elevated levels ...

COVID-19 Associated Wake-Up Stroke Treated With DWI/FLAIR Mismatch Guided Intravenous Alteplase: A Case Report
Conclusion: The hyperacute-MRI protocol for wake-up COVID-19 associated strokes might be a safe option.

COVID-19 Infection and Recurrent Stroke in Young Patients With Protein S Deficiency: A Case Report
Conclusions: SARS-CoV-2 infection potentializes the prothrombotic effect and vascular inflammation by accentuating protein S deficit. The place of steroids seems justifiable in the presence of symptoms of vasculitis in brain imaging.

Focal cerebral arteriopathy in a young adult following SARS-CoV2 reinfection
Ten days after SARS-Cov2 reinfection with mild gastrointestinal symptoms and headache that occurred 2 months after an initial infection, a previously healthy 37-year-old woman developed fluctuating facial and upper limb paresthesia and weakness. Diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging revealed ischemic lesions in the right parietal region of different stages within the same vascular territory. A cerebral angiography demonstrated an isolated focal arteriopathy with no other arterial involvement.

Ischemic Stroke in a 29-Year-Old Patient with COVID-19: A Case Report
We reported, instead, a case of an ischemic stroke in a young woman during her hospitalization for COVID-19-related pneumonia. A 29-year-old woman presented to the emergency department of our institution with progressive respiratory distress associated with a 2-day history of fever, nausea, and vomiting. The patient was transferred to the intensive care unit (ICU) where she underwent a tracheostomy for mechanical ventilation due to her severe clinical condition and her very low arterial partial pressure of oxygen. The nasopharyngeal swab test confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection. Laboratory tests showed neutrophilic leucocytosis...

Multiple embolic stroke on magnetic resonance imaging of the brain in a COVID-19 case with persistent encephalopathy
The pulmonary manifestations of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection or coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) are well known. The literature on neurological manifestations and complications in patients with COVID-19 has been increasing but is still sparse. At present, there are only a few reported case reports and clinical studies on neurological manifestations of COVID-19, of which ischemic stroke is one of the most common ones. Coagulopathy and vascular endothelial dysfunction have been proposed as the complications of COVID-19 which can ultimately lead to ischemic stroke.
