A prognostic model for interventional thrombectomy in patients with acute ischemic stroke based on a BP neural network, random forest model and decision tree model
CONCLUSION: The three prediction models have shown good diagnostic efficacy and stability in the preliminary study of the prognosis of AIS mediated thrombectomy, which has important guiding significance for clinical prognosis assessment and selection of appropriate surgical population. The prediction model can be selected according to the actual situation of patients to provide more efficient guidance for clinicians.PMID:37303675 | PMC:PMC10250994

Functional and technical outcomes in acute ischemic stroke patients with hyperdense middle cerebral artery sign treated with endovascular thrombectomy
ConclusionPatients with HMCAS treated with EVT do not have a worse outcome at 3  months compared with no-HMCAS patients. Patients with HMCAS required a greater number of thrombus passes and longer procedure times.

Prediction of blood pressure variability during thrombectomy using supervised machine learning and outcomes of patients with ischemic stroke from large vessel occlusion
AbstractMechanical thrombectomy (MT) is the standard of care for patients with acute ischemic stroke from large vessel occlusion (AIS-LVO). The association of blood pressure variability (BPV) during MT and outcomes are unknown. We leveraged a supervised machine learning algorithm to predict patient characteristics that are associated with BPV indices. We performed a retrospective review of our comprehensive stroke center ’s registry of all adult patients undergoing MT between 01/01/2016 and 12/31/2019. The primary outcome was poor functional independence, defined as 90-day modified Rankin Scale (mRS) ≥ 3. We used p...

Temporal lobe atrophy as a potential predictor of functional outcome in older adults with acute ischemic stroke
ConclusionsAssessment of temporal lobe atrophy may predict functional outcome in patients with AIS treated with MT.

Decompressive craniectomy index: Does the size of decompressive craniectomy matter in malignant middle cerebral artery infarction?
CONCLUSION: In our series, the relation between bone flap size and theoretical maximum supratentorial hemicranium area (DCI) in patients with malignant MCA infarction was associated with prognosis. Further studies are necessary to confirm these findings.PMID:36600778 | PMC:PMC9805638 | DOI:10.25259/SNI_895_2022
