Risk factors associated with recurrence of ischemic stroke after intracranial stenting in china: a case-control study
Conclusions: Recurrence of ischemic stroke after intracranial stenting may be associated with elderly age, non-smoking, and Mori C type lesion. These factors will need to be monitored in future trials of intracranial stenting.Clinical Trial Registration: URL: http://www.clinicaltrials.gov. Unique identifier: NCT01968122.PMID:34148505 | DOI:10.1080/01616412.2021.1937877

Association between insulin resistance and aspirin or clopidogrel resistance in Chinese patients with recent ischemic stroke/TIA.
Conclusions: Insulin resistance was an independent predictor for development of antiplatelet drug resistance in patients with recent minor ischemic stroke or TIA. More attention should be paid to recognize these patients and antithrombotic effect should be monitored when antiplatelet drugs were applied to these patients. Risk factors for in-hospital mortality among acute ischemic stroke patients in China: a nationwide prospective study.
Conclusions: The findings from this study may help clinicians control the risk of IHM better for patients with AIS. PMID: 33357098 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Effect of renal function on association between uric acid and prognosis in acute ischemic stroke patients with elevated systolic blood pressure.
CONCLUSION: The present study suggests that high serum uric acid concentration is associated with better prognosis in ischemic stroke patients with normal renal function, but not in those with abnormal renal function. The establishment of causality between increased uric acid levels and better stroke prognosis needs more suitably designed randomized clinical trials. The relationship between the platelet to leukocyte ratio and mechanical thrombectomy outcomes in acute ischemic stroke patients.
CONCLUSION: Platelet to leukocyte ratio may be use to assess the risk of functional outcome and sICH in patients with acute anterior circulation occlusion stroke undergoing endovascular treatment in real world China. PMID: 32643590 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

The effect of intravenous ginkgolide on clinical improvement of patients with acute ischemic stroke.
Conclusion: Intravenous ginkgolide may improve the outcome of acute ischemic stroke. Differences in effect between pre-marketing and post-marketing studies may be associated with gender, time of onset to enrollment and severity of stroke. PMID: 32048567 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Inpatient statin use and stroke recurrence in patients with or without diabetes mellitus.
Conclusion: Inpatient statin use was associated with lower stroke recurrence in non-diabetic patients after acute ischaemic stroke, but no definite association between inpatient statin use and stroke recurrence in patients with diabetes mellitus was found. PMID: 31328681 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Association between socioeconomic status and prognosis after ischemic stroke in South China.
Conclusions: Patients with low income, family caregiver, and no insurance have a poorer prognosis after ischemic stroke that can be partly explained by intermediate variable in the patients' demographic characteristics, cardiovascular disease, behavior lifestyle, and stroke severity. Abbreviations: DALYs: disability-adjusted life years; SES: socioeconomic status; FMC: free medical care; MIUR: medical insurance for urban residents; MIUE: medical insurance for urban employees; NCMS: new rural cooperative medical scheme ; NIHSS: National Institute of Health Stroke Scale ; mRS: modified Rankin scale; OR: odds ratios; CI: confi...

A new physical-cognitive scale for assessment of frailty in Chinese Han elderly.
CONCLUSIONS: Our study revealed a significantly worse status in frail participants with CI than without. Our new scale shows a stronger correlation between frailty and complications than the classic phenotype. PMID: 31030646 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Low-dose rt-PA may not decrease the incidence of symptomatic intracranial haemorrhage in patients with high risk of symptomatic intracranial haemorrhage.
CONCLUSIONS: Our study suggests that low-dose intravenous rt-PA for high-risk sICH stroke in Chinese patients may not decrease the incidence of sICH, and concomitant with a poor outcome compared to standard-dose rt-PA. ABBREVIATIONS: rt-PA: recombinant tissue plasminogen activator; AIS: acute ischemic stroke; sICH: symptomatic intracranial haemorrhage. PMID: 30822264 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Increased risk of post-stroke epilepsy in Chinese patients with a TRPM6 polymorphism.
CONCLUSION: The TRPM6 rs2274924 polymorphism may be associated with susceptibility to epilepsy following stroke, and the C allele may be associated with increased risk of post-stroke epilepsy. The TRPM6 rs2274924 polymorphism may also influence serum levels of Mg2+ in post-stroke epilepsy patients. PMID: 30739590 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Early microalbuminuria as a clinical marker for acute cerebral small vessel infarction.
CONCLUSIONS: These findings demonstrate that in patients with acute lacunar infarction, slightly increased microalbuminuria seems to be a potential clinical marker for CSVD. The presence of microalbuminuria early may help to differentiate CSVD from stroke subtypes. PMID: 30475173 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Lp-PLA2 as a risk factor of early neurological deterioration in acute ischemic stroke with TOAST type of large arterial atherosclerosis.
Authors: Wang Y, Hu S, Ren L, Lei Z, Lan T, Cai J, Li C Abstract INTRODUCTION: Lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 (Lp-PLA2) is a well-known risk factor of atherosclerotic vascular diseases. Nevertheless, its role in the acute phase of ischemic stroke is still unclear. The aim of this study is to identify the relationship between Lp-PLA2 levels and early neurological deterioration (END) in acute ischemic stroke patients with Trial of Org 10 172 in Acute Stroke Treatment (TOAST) subtype of large arterial atherosclerosis (LAA). METHODS: We enrolled Chinese patients with first ever acute ischemic stroke admitt...
