Clinical Correlates and Prognostic Significance of Change in Standardized Left Ventricular Mass in a Community-Based Cohort of African Americans Epidemiology
Conclusions In our community-based sample of African Americans, baseline BMI and BP, and change in BP on follow-up were key determinants of increase in standardized log-LVMI, which in turn carried an adverse prognosis, underscoring the need for greater control of BP and weight in this group.

Predictors of Long-term Clinical Endpoints in Patients With Refractory Angina Coronary Heart Disease
Conclusions Clinically stable patients with RA who are medically managed have a modest mortality, but a high incidence of hospitalization and resource use over 3 years. These findings point to the need for novel therapies aimed at symptom mitigation in this population and their potential impact on health care utilization and costs.

Habitual Sleep Duration and Predicted 10-Year Cardiovascular Risk Using the Pooled Cohort Risk Equations Among US Adults Epidemiology
Conclusions Mean-predicted 10-year cardiovascular risk was lowest among adults who reported sleeping 7 hours per night and increased as participants reported sleeping fewer and more hours.

Electrocardiographic Deep Terminal Negativity of the P Wave in V1 and Risk of Sudden Cardiac Death: The Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) Study Coronary Heart Disease
Conclusion DTNPV1 is predictive of SCD suggesting its potential utility in risk stratification in the general population.

Peripheral Arterial Disease and Risk of Atrial Fibrillation and Stroke: The Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis Coronary Heart Disease
Conclusions PAD is associated with an increased risk of AF and stroke in MESA. Potentially, the relationship between PAD and stroke is not mediated by AF.

Prognostic Value of Estimated Functional Capacity Incremental to Cardiac Biomarkers in Stable Cardiac Patients Coronary Heart Disease
Conclusion A simple self-assessment tool of functional capacity in stable patients undergoing elective diagnostic cardiac evaluation provides independent and incremental prognostic value for prediction of both significant coronary angiographic disease and long-term adverse clinical events.

Importance of Exercise Capacity in Predicting Outcomes and Determining Optimal Timing of Surgery in Significant Primary Mitral Regurgitation Valvular Heart Disease
Conclusion In patients with primary MR that underwent exercise echocardiography followed by MV surgery, lower achieved metabolic equivalents were associated with worse long-term outcomes. In those with preserved exercise capacity, delaying MV surgery by ≥1 year did not adversely affect outcomes.

Reduction in Overall Occurrences of Ischemic Events With Vorapaxar: Results From TRACER Coronary Heart Disease
Conclusions Vorapaxar reduced overall occurrences of ischemic events, but increased bleeding. These exploratory findings broaden our understanding of vorapaxar's potential and expand our understanding of the value of capturing recurrent events. Long-term Cardiovascular Risks Associated With an Elevated Heart Rate: The Framingham Heart Study Epidemiology
Conclusions Individuals with a higher heart rate are at elevated long-term risk for cardiovascular events, in particular, heart failure, and all-cause death. On the other hand, a higher heart rate is associated with a lower risk of future permanent pacemaker implantation.
