Clinical Impact of Gastrointestinal Bleeding in Patients Undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Interventions Coronary Interventions
Conclusions— Among unselected patients undergoing PCI, GIB has a profound effect on prognosis. Triple antithrombotic therapy emerged as the single drug-related predictor of GIB in addition to patient-related risk factors within 1 year of PCI. Clinical Trial Registration— URL: http://www.clinicaltrials.gov. Unique identifier: NCT02241291.

Cerebrovascular Events After a Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention Strategy for Acute ST-Segment- Elevation Myocardial Infarction: Analysis From the HORIZONS-AMI Trial Coronary Interventions
Conclusions— In HORIZONS-AMI, cerebrovascular events within 3 years after ST-segment–elevation myocardial infarction in patients undergoing a primary percutaneous coronary intervention management strategy occurred in 2.0% of patients and were most frequent after coronary artery bypass grafting. Cerebrovascular events were often disabling and were strongly associated with high rates of death, reinfarction, recurrent ischemia, and major bleeding. Clinical Trial Registration— URL: http://www.clinicaltrials.gov. Unique identifier: NCT00433966.

Pericardial Endoscopy-Guided Left Atrial Appendage Ligation: A Pilot Study in a Canine Model Structural Heart Disease
Conclusions— Pericardial endoscopy-guided LAA ligation could provide an alternative, minimally invasive, and feasible solution for LAA closure that does not require vascular access or a transseptal puncture.

Targeted Temperature Management at 33{degrees}C Versus 36{degrees}C and Impact on Systemic Vascular Resistance and Myocardial Function After Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest: A Sub-Study of the Target Temperature Management Trial Coronary Interventions
Conclusions— Targeted temperature management at 33°C with target mean arterial pressure ≥65 mm Hg is associated with increased SVRI and lower cardiac index because of lower heart rate with unaffected left ventricular systolic function compared with 36°C. Clinical Trial Registration— URL: http://www.clinicaltrials.gov. Unique identifier: NCT01020916.

Comparison of Trends and Outcomes of Carotid Artery Stenting and Endarterectomy in the United States, 2001 to 2010 Peripheral Vascular Disease
Conclusions— In US hospitals between 2001 and 2010, CAS was associated with worse in-hospital outcomes, partly attributable to selection and ascertainment bias. Asymptomatic patients undergoing CAS versus CEA had similar adjusted rates of major adverse events. CAS outcomes improved significantly during the course of the decade likely attributable to improvements in patient selection, operator skills, and technological advancements.

Outcomes With Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery Versus Percutaneous Coronary Intervention for Patients With Diabetes Mellitus: Can Newer Generation Drug-Eluting Stents Bridge the Gap? Coronary Interventions
Conclusions— In patients with diabetes mellitus, evidence from indirect comparison shows similar mortality between CABG and PCI using cobalt–chromium everolimus-eluting stent. CABG was associated with numerically excess stroke and PCI with cobalt–chromium everolimus-eluting stent with numerically increased repeat revascularization. This hypothesis needs to be tested in future trials.

Open Transapical Approach to Transcatheter Paravalvular Leakage Closure: A Preliminary Experience Structural Heart Disease
Conclusions— The open transapical approach to PVL closure in high-risk patients has a high procedural success rate with an acceptable risk of adverse outcomes. This is the first study to prove an increased functional capacity and quality of life after transapical PVL closure. Residual PVL is associated with 1-year mortality.
